This year, Panmela Castro, a.k.a. Anarkia was nominated for the Global Leadership Award of Human Rights for her leadership and trailblazing work using art as a vehicle to promote positive social change and awareness in her community and around the world.

The women of the workshops on techniques of drawing and painting in the prison of Sesuntepeque had a successful exhibition in fall 2009. During two weeks, all final results of the workshops were shown on a great wall inside the prison. They addressed topics such as peace, love, hope, freedom, friendship and family. A few weeks after, Quetzalcoatl took the chance to also exhibit their work in another prison; the penitentiary centre of Jucuapa.

This Thursday December 17th, after being closed for a long time, Severo 172 finally opened with the grand multi-discipline interactive urban art expo Resistência! This cultural explosion set Rio de Janeiro’s city centre Lapa up side down and once more showed that Rio de Janeiro does have an innovating art scene that shouldn’t be neglected!
