This summer our partner MiCamichula organizes silkscreen workshops on the Brazilian Squares in Rotterdam. MiCamichula teaches youngsters the basic skills of t-shirt design, step by step. In the workshop youngsters start with taking photo’s of their own surroundings. These photographs are then transformed into graphic designs and with the silkscreen printing technique the youngsters learn how to print these designs onto a t-shirt.
During Brazil Rotterdam, in july and august Caramundo invited MiCamichula to represent on the Brazilian Squares. Visitors of the squares can print their own shirt at the MiCamichula caravan. For those who don’t want to make their own shirts, the new collection of MiCamichula will be for sale. MiCamichula decorates the area around its Caravan with “laundry” of photographs and shirts made in the most recent projects.
The prints the visitors of the squares can choose, come from the workshops silkscreen MiCamichula organizes in the favelas Acarí and Sampaio in Rio de Janeiro. MiCamichula works together with the local partner Templo de Hiphop of Acarí where selfesteem of the participating youths is stimulated during those workshops. MiCamichula also works in Sampaio in the cultural centre of Projeto Queto.
All money MiCamichula earns with the ales of the shirts, will fully be used in the projects in Brazil.
