Wallbangaz on tour in Brazil
After several great shows with Turbo Trio in Holland, the Wallbangaz finally strike back! Their tour in Brazil is a fact! With their last hand at their new album “Dirty From The Streets” they finally hit the Brazilian road with concerts in Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo and Curitiba.
The Wallbangaz, consisting of producer Alexandre Basa (Brazil), and the MC’s Scropio and Zillion (Holland) met in 2006 at a masterclass Turbo Trio gave in Rotterdam, a cooperation between Roots & Routes, Caramundo and Dunya Festival. Basa, Scorpio and Zillion immediately discovered that they would make an excellent group and started to produce an album. Since their first meeting in 2006 they have been exchanging beats and lyrics through internet which made the recording a long and slow process.
To finish the album “Dirty From The Streets” was the main goal of their trip to Brazil. With this album they continue the original hiphop style Scorpio and Zillion used to produce with their former group Ablaze, but working with Basa definitely added some extra Jamaican flavour. The album is a mixture of many genres such as raggamuffin, reggae, hardcore electro as well as eclectic and up-tempo beats, that reflect the international character and interests of the group. Formula for a good party guaranteed! In Brazil, the audience confirmed this entusiasm with sold out shows, lines outside and their succes on stage with Mad Professor and BNegão e os Seletores de Frequência.
In the three weeks the Wallbangaz are touring Brazil, they have been playing on stage with Mad Professor in Circo Voador, Rio de Janeiro, and had full shows at Zoeira in São Paulo and Acesso MTV from MTV Brasil.
The Wallbangaz are promoting the organic clothing brand HoodLamb Hempwear from Amsterdam, who supplied them with new clothing. Excellent and conscious choice guys!
